The programme uses a positive role model approach to improve students’ outlook towards education and life. The mentoring process aims to help students to identify and achieve their goals. Together, the mentor and student will break down their goals into manageable steps so that they can be achieved, reflecting on what is going well and what else can be done to achieve them along the way. |

JSA Equine Therapy |
Equine and Animal Assisted Therapy utilises a fundamentally non-directive therapeutic model. A relationship of trust develops between the student and their chosen horse through a range of indoor and outdoor activities. Horses are herd animals with a pronounced flight instinct, and will pick up on a student’s stress and discomfort very quickly. Their deep sense of empathy causes the horses to want to be with their human companions, and help them to resolve emotional distress. This can be a great reflection tool for students in considering the non-verbal messages and body language they are communicating. |
